Why I hate Natural Gas
This House Blew up Today at Noon time, the Explosion blew the windows out of the Yellow house next door, people living near by said the shock wave was very loud and you could feel it blocks away, flames were shooting 30 to 40 feet in the air. The Owners were away in Florida so no one was hurt.
The House was on Scully Street off of Regent Near Queens Square Park.
Here is a post from Andre Landry who lives Across the Street, got this from the CBC site
So here is what actually happened - big explosion, shook our apartment building as if it was going to come down (we are directly across the street). After checking to see that our 4 month old was alright, my fiance looked out our window and noticed that the back left side of the house across the street was blown out. I called 911 and then went outside to check out the scene. The neighbors from the house to the right returned home and informed me that there was no one in the house (this was within the first minute after the explosion). There were only a few visible flames at this time...an onlooker and I then went to the house to the left (which was occupied by an elderly couple). The right side of their home had their windows blown out and was indented from the force of the explosion. I escorted out the blind man and the other onlooker helped his wife out. By the time we had come out, rescue vehicles had arrived and the house itself was completely filled with flames (about 5 minutes after the initial "bang"). I'm sure the couple is fine since they were taken down to the end of the street by some other onlookers after we had taken them far enough away from the house.
Lucky that there was no one on the street when the explosion occured since there was pieces of glass and other debris thrown onto the street and neighboring properties. It actually knocked out the attic window in our building.
